As part of the development of the new Bankside Walkway, architects
Patel Taylor commissioned a site specific work linking the Globe Theatre
(a reconstruction of the original open air play house) to the Thames
walkway. A Shakespeare quote taken from Henry VII (act 4 scene 2)
was inscribed into the handrail along the walkway.

‘Men’s evil manners live in brass; their virtues we write in water.’
